JESUS WAS NOT BORN ON DECEMBER 25!
CHRISTIANS STUNNED AT POPE’S CONFESSION!
Christians believe Jesus Christ was born on December 25. They celebrate his birthday, popularly known as Christmas, annually on that day. However, Pope Benedict XVI has made it public that it is absolutely false that Jesus was born on that day.
The Pope's statement has extremely shocked the Christian world. Christians have been ritually celebrating Christmas every year on December 25 as per their belief that he was born on that day. The Pope has revealed that this information is bogus.
Pope also stated that common people have been misinformed about Jesus year of birth.
The Infancy Narratives
In the third volume of his latest book Jesus of Nazareth: The Infancy Narratives, Pope Benedict XVI has stated that Christians belief that Jesus born on December 25 is erroneous. He also said in the same book that there could be miscalculation in the actual year of birth of Jesus.
Christians have always been closemouthed not able to produce credible Biblical evidence with regards to the birth of Jesus. The Pope’s admittance has only confirmed the basis for their silence.
Several former historians and scholars have indicated errors in the date of birth of Jesus Christ. But this is the first time in history that such an explanation has come from the supreme authority and the leader of worldwide Catholic Church.
Jesus of Nazareth: The Infancy Narratives (2012) completes Pope Benedict's three-volume book on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, which includes Jesus of Nazareth (2007) and Jesus of Nazareth: Holy Week (2011). A million copies of the book have already been printed, and it is expected that the book will be translated into another 20 languages for publication in 72 countries.
The Pope has also stated that Jesus must have been born earlier than what is commonly believed by Christians.
Dionysius Exiguus is a 6th century monk best known as the inventor of the Anno Domini (AD) era, which is used to number the years of both the Gregorian calendar and the (Christianized) Julian calendar. Pope argues that it was Dionysius who could have miscalculated the birth year of Jesus. Prior to the Pope’s confession, Christians were historically divided with regards to the birth year of Jesus. Most Christians assume Jesus might have been born between 6 and 4 BC. The Pope has further confused the situation by asserting Jesus could have been born between 4 BC and 6AD. This is a remarkable absurdity considering Anno Domini (AD) era itself was intended to be the beginning of the life of Jesus to be the reference date. Confusion over the year of birth shows how unreliable the prevailing historical accounts of Jesus could be.
Further Shocking News:
The 85 year old leader’s further proclamation has also completely surprised the Christians. He has raised questions on the presence of donkeys and other animals during the birth of Jesus. Pope has affirmed that there is no mention of the presence of animals in the Bible.
He has added that there is no evidence with regards to the Christians belief that Angels visited and sang to the Shepherds about the birth of Jesus Christ.
It is not true that Jesus was born in a Barn:
During Christmas celebration Christians create Nativity scene exhibiting figures representing human and animal characters displayed in a barn creating an impression that Jesus was born in a barn. Pope has now divulged that this is a fabrication too. He has disclosed that there is no evidence that Jesus was born in a barn.
Christians believe and cite Bible as their authoritative book. However, in all honesty and truth, Bible has no evidence about the place, date or year of birth of Jesus. There has never been any agreement regarding these issues; and there only remain confusions and contradictions about them.
Firstly, it cannot be proved that December 25 as the birth day of Jesus Christ. Secondly, different dates have been celebrated over centuries as Jesus birthday during times. Thirdly, Gospels never mentioned Jesus birth date. On the contrary, Gospels chose to have ignored it.
It is very important to note that Gospels which are believed to have been written during the time when Jesus mother and sibling were alive, had not actually relayed any credible information with regards to Jesus date of birth.
Irreconcilable Contradictions of Matthew and Luke:
Matthew, who narrated historical accounts of Jesus Christ, recorded that Mary, her fiancé Joseph, and Jesus escaped to Egypt fearing King Herod’s intention to kill the infants of that area in an attempt to kill Jesus. However, Luke has no record of this incident.
Bible is considered to be authored and edited through divine inspiration so that their writings may be designated in some sense, the Word of God. It is an extraordinary surprise as to how God failed to clarify an important incident which happens to be a central aspect in the Christian belief. However, on the contrary, according to Luke, forty days (the purification period) after Jesus was born, Jesus was brought to the Temple, made the prescribed sacrifice, and returned to Jerusalem. Anyhow, if King Herod wanted to kill Jesus, he could have actually used this opportunity. It is difficult not to miss such an obvious contradiction between Matthew and Luke’s accounts of, the so called divinely inspired, history around Jesus infancy.
The above contradictions, and other accounts and information documented in the Bible confirm that it contains nothing but concocted stories. Islamic scholar PJ (P Jainul Abideen – current President of TNTJ (www.tntj.net) and owner & moderator of www.onlinepj.com) has written in great detail about the contradictions and inaccuracies found in the Bible in his book This is Bible written in Tamil.
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt. (Mathew 2:13-14)
Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.” Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, which it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.” (Mathew 2:19-23)
Luke’s Gospel informs that the prevailing situation then after the time of Jesus birth was normal.
They were in Bethlehem and they used to go and come to Jerusalem for the Pasco celebration every year. Luke 2:15-52
Luke did not record about Slaughter of Innocents (King Herod’s attempt to slaughter children under two years old in an attempt to kill Jesus), Flight into Egypt (Mary, her fiancé Joseph and Jesus escape to Egypt fearing King Herod’s plan to kill Jesus), or their life in hiding away from Jerusalem following King Herod’s son ascension to the throne. On the contrary, Luke mentioned that they have been visiting Jerusalem and lived there without problems.
- If Bible was inspired by God, why then much contradiction?
- Was it that the circumstances were normal as Luke had mentioned?
- Or was the circumstances unsafe as Matthew had documented?
- Did they travel to Jerusalem every year?
- Or were they living in hiding in Egypt as ordered by God in Joseph’s dream?
Isn’t this sufficient that the authors and editors of Gospel wrote heresies and their own desires in the name God’s inspiration? How, then, it can still be claimed that Bible is the Word of God?
Pope Admitting to the Truth
Pope has admitted Luke and Matthew have narrated contradictory historical accounts about the birth of Jesus Christ. However, Pope rationalizes the contradictions claiming their actual aims were not to transmit accurate historical accounts but only to spread the “light of truth”.
If what Pope says about Luke and Matthew are true, one would only hope they shouldn’t have confused the world with contradictory messages. Such a behavior alone questions their credibility in transmitting authentic information; let alone accounts of the birth of Jesus, but the central theme of Christianity, the Christian doctrine itself.
Lack of Any Credible Evidence:
The most important Christian festivals are Christmas and Easter. According to their belief, they are annual commemoration of the birth and resurrection of Jesus respectively.
We have been made aware by the confession of Pope that there is no credible evidence on the exact date of birth of Jesus, and the subsequent annual celebration of Christmas on December 25. Furthermore, we are equally surprised to find lack of evidence for the other important Christian festival of Easter too. For full information: Please see our article Is Easter Sunday or Monday?
