Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire! Gnanasara Tells The President Where The Problem Lies

By Mass L. Usuf –

This person Gnanasara (with my highest regard to those sincere and respectable monks) is incredible. How on earth, I wonder can a person in robe who everyday takes the pledge of pancha sila (the five virtues) and who also administers it to the laymen, utter blatant lies. The fourth of the five virtues states:“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” ~ Adolph Hitler, a man who learned how to lie effectively.
Musāvādā veramaṇī, sikkhā-padaṃ samādiyāmi.
I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from false speech (lying).
The Judaeo-Christian commandment is “Thou shalt not lie”. The Quran states: “…surely Allah does not guide him aright who is a liar, ungrateful.” (Chapter 39 Verse 3)
At a recent meeting with H.E. The President Maithripala Sirisena and several others, matters relating to the preservation of archaeological sites were discussed. At this meeting was also present Galagoda Atthe Gnanasara among the other members of the Buddhist clergy and Officials. The President said that the problem of archaeological preservation is not a new one and has been there for quite some time. He acknowledged that the Department of Archaeology could not provide adequate security because it is understaffed. He further said that it is necessary for the places especially in the North and East be given priority in addressing this issues.
Polowa Pelena Boru
Gnanasara who was also present at that meeting had this to say, among other things. This is the English translation.
“Have we ever harmed any mosque or kovil or any other place of worship in the South anywhere? The Tamil people very rarely lay their hands on an archaeological site. However, Muslims are not like that. For them, in their religious teachings it is instructed to destroy such places. That is where the problem is.”
In my view, this statement of Gnanasara clearly points to the:
  1. Continuation of his meaningless vitriolics against Muslims;
  2. The spreading of blatant lies about the religion of Islam;
  3. Providing false information with regard to no harm done to mosques and other places of worship.
The National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL) has documented 241 anti-Muslim attacks and 69 anti-Christian attacks in 2013. These include attacks on places of religious worship of the Christians and Muslims. Against Gnanasara himself there are around 40 Police complaints pending investigation in relation to his role in the Aluthgama riots. There are also several other complaints against him which are not related to Aluthgama.
His lie that Islam teaches Muslims to destroy archaeological sites is aptly describable using the Sinhala phrase, ‘polowa pelena boru’. I do not know the English equivalent of this. A literal translation, I guess, would be “earth sundering lies”.
Quran And Archaeology
Quran is rich with several references being made to history and archaeology. I wish to refer to one Quranic verse only which amply demonstrates the importance of archaeological sites.
“To every nation, We sent a Messenger who told its people: Worship Allah and shun false gods, idols. Then some of them God guided, and some were justly disposed to error. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for those who rejected the truth!” (Chapter 16 Verse 36)
The implication of this verse is that to every nation a Messenger has been sent. For example, the advent of Prophet Abraham was around five thousand years ago. Obviously, predating even Buddhism. Such Messengers/Reformers appeared at different times and, to different peoples living in different regions. They had been sent with the message to worship Allah and shun other gods, idols.
If Islam instructs the Muslims to destroy archaeological sites, how can the Quran ask mankind to travel in the land and see the consequences of what had happened to the people who lived thousands of years ago? How can Gnanasara, sitting face to face with the President of this country, tell such humongous lies to the President of the nation that Islam teaches the Muslims to destroy archaeological sites?
His success depends on people believing his lies. Lies ranging from the “little white lies” to huge, “pants-on-fire” lies to deceive the innocent and peace loving Sinhala people. Especially, the youth. Lying is Satan’s primary weapon against the people. He uses the tactic of deceit to influence people away from the truth. There is a beautiful description of Satan in the Bible, where speaking to a group of Jews, Jesus says,
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44).
The Satan also “masquerades as an angel of light” or “the saviour”, so that what he says and does sounds good and seems reasonable. But it is nothing more than a false appearance and deceit.
“Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.”
(2 Corinthians 11:14-15).
Gnanasara is a person who donned the robe to seek the path of enlightenment. Is he not aware of the Maraya (demon) who is described as “the personification of the forces antagonistic to enlightenment? (Thera, Nyanaponika (2008). The Roots of Good and Evil). Is he not aware of the three daughters of the Maraya identified as Taṇhā (Craving), Arati (Aversion/Discontentment), and Raga (Attachment/Desire/Greed/Passion)?
One wonders if Gnanasara is in the fold of Buddha or Adolf Hitler. In his book, Mein Kampf (1925) Hitler tells about the use of a lie. A Big Lie always has a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted. A Big Lie will be believed by many since it will not be considered as a lie. The repetition of such lies over time will make it the truth and, then, even the real truth will be doubted.
It is an explicable tragedy that H.E. The President is involving such a person to discuss issues relating to the preservation of archaeological sites.

In the name of Allah
Christians believe Jesus Christ was born on December 25[1]. They celebrate his birthday, popularly known as Christmas, annually on that day. However, Pope Benedict XVI has made it public that it is absolutely false that Jesus was born on that day.
The Pope's statement has extremely shocked the Christian world. Christians have been ritually celebrating Christmas every year on December 25 as per their belief that he was born on that day. The Pope has revealed that this information is bogus.
Pope also stated that common people have been misinformed about Jesus year of birth.
The Infancy Narratives[2]
In the third volume of his latest book Jesus of Nazareth: The Infancy Narratives, Pope Benedict XVI has stated that Christians belief that Jesus born on December 25 is erroneous. He also said in the same book that there could be miscalculation in the actual year of birth of Jesus.
Christians have always been closemouthed not able to produce credible Biblical evidence with regards to the birth of Jesus. The Pope’s admittance has only confirmed the basis for their silence.
Several former historians and scholars have indicated errors in the date of birth of Jesus Christ. But this is the first time in history that such an explanation has come from the supreme authority and the leader of worldwide Catholic Church.
Jesus of Nazareth: The Infancy Narratives (2012) completes Pope Benedict's three-volume book on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, which includes Jesus of Nazareth (2007) and Jesus of Nazareth: Holy Week (2011). A million copies of the book have already been printed, and it is expected that the book will be translated into another 20 languages for publication in 72 countries.
The Pope has also stated that Jesus must have been born earlier than what is commonly believed by Christians.
Dionysius Exiguus[3] is a 6th century monk best known as the inventor of the Anno Domini (AD) era, which is used to number the years of both the Gregorian calendar and the (Christianized) Julian calendar. Pope argues that it was Dionysius who could have miscalculated the birth year of Jesus.  Prior to the Pope’s confession, Christians were historically divided with regards to the birth year of Jesus. Most Christians assume Jesus might have been born between 6 and 4 BC. The Pope has further confused the situation by asserting Jesus could have been born between 4 BC and 6AD. This is a remarkable absurdity considering Anno Domini (AD) era itself was intended to be the beginning of the life of Jesus to be the reference date. Confusion over the year of birth shows how unreliable the prevailing historical accounts of Jesus could be.
Further Shocking News:
The 85 year old leader’s further proclamation has also completely surprised the Christians. He has raised questions on the presence of donkeys and other animals during the birth of Jesus. Pope has affirmed that there is no mention of the presence of animals in the Bible.
He has added that there is no evidence with regards to the Christians belief that Angels visited and sang to the Shepherds about the birth of Jesus Christ.
It is not true that Jesus was born in a Barn:
During Christmas celebration Christians create Nativity scene exhibiting figures representing human and animal characters displayed in a barn creating an impression that Jesus was born in a barn. Pope has now divulged that this is a fabrication too. He has disclosed that there is no evidence that Jesus was born in a barn.
Christians believe and cite Bible as their authoritative book. However, in all honesty and truth, Bible has no evidence about the place, date or year of birth of Jesus. There has never been any agreement regarding these issues; and there only remain confusions and contradictions about them.
Firstly, it cannot be proved that December 25 as the birth day of Jesus Christ. Secondly, different dates have been celebrated over centuries as Jesus birthday during times. Thirdly, Gospels never mentioned Jesus birth date. On the contrary, Gospels chose to have ignored it.
It is very important to note that Gospels which are believed to have been written during the time when Jesus mother and sibling were alive, had not actually relayed any credible information with regards to Jesus date of birth.
Irreconcilable Contradictions of Matthew and Luke:
Matthew, who narrated historical accounts of Jesus Christ, recorded that Mary, her fiancé Joseph, and Jesus escaped to Egypt fearing King Herod’s intention to kill the infants of that area in an attempt to kill Jesus. However, Luke has no record of this incident.
Bible is considered to be authored and edited through divine inspiration so that their writings may be designated in some sense, the Word of God. It is an extraordinary surprise as to how God failed to clarify an important incident which happens to be a central aspect in the Christian belief. However, on the contrary, according to Luke, forty days (the purification period) after Jesus was born, Jesus was brought to the Temple, made the prescribed sacrifice, and returned to Jerusalem. Anyhow, if King Herod wanted to kill Jesus, he could have actually used this opportunity. It is difficult not to miss such an obvious contradiction between Matthew and Luke’s accounts of, the so called divinely inspired, history around Jesus infancy.
The above contradictions, and other accounts and information documented in the Bible confirm that it contains nothing but concocted stories. Islamic scholar PJ (P Jainul Abideen – current President of TNTJ ( and owner & moderator of has written in great detail about the contradictions and inaccuracies found in the Bible in his book This is Bible written in Tamil.
Disconnected Circumstances[4]:
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”  When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt. (Mathew 2:13-14)
Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.” Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, which it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.” (Mathew 2:19-23)
Luke’s Gospel informs that the prevailing situation then after the time of Jesus birth was normal.
They were in Bethlehem and they used to go and come to Jerusalem for the Pasco celebration every year. Luke 2:15-52
Luke did not record about Slaughter of Innocents (King Herod’s attempt to slaughter children under two years old in an attempt to kill Jesus), Flight into Egypt (Mary, her fiancé Joseph and Jesus escape to Egypt fearing King Herod’s plan to kill Jesus), or their life in hiding away from Jerusalem following King Herod’s son ascension to the throne. On the contrary, Luke mentioned that they have been visiting Jerusalem and lived there without problems.
  • If Bible was inspired by God, why then much contradiction?
  • Was it that the circumstances were normal as Luke had mentioned?
  • Or was the circumstances unsafe as Matthew had documented?
  • Did they travel to Jerusalem every year?
  • Or were they living in hiding in Egypt as ordered by God in Joseph’s dream?
Isn’t this sufficient that the authors and editors of Gospel wrote heresies and their own desires in the name God’s inspiration? How, then, it can still be claimed that Bible is the Word of God?

Pope Admitting to the Truth
Pope has admitted Luke and Matthew have narrated contradictory historical accounts about the birth of Jesus Christ. However, Pope rationalizes the contradictions claiming their actual aims were not to transmit accurate historical accounts but only to spread the “light of truth”.
If what Pope says about Luke and Matthew are true, one would only hope they shouldn’t have confused the world with contradictory messages. Such a behavior alone questions their credibility in transmitting authentic information; let alone accounts of the birth of Jesus, but the central theme of Christianity, the Christian doctrine itself.
Lack of Any Credible Evidence:
The most important Christian festivals are Christmas and Easter. According to their belief, they are annual commemoration of the birth and resurrection of Jesus respectively.
We have been made aware by the confession of Pope that there is no credible evidence on the exact date of birth of Jesus, and the subsequent annual celebration of Christmas on December 25. Furthermore, we are equally surprised to find lack of evidence for the other important Christian festival of Easter too. For full information: Please see our article Is Easter Sunday or Monday?

The Faceless God Discombobulates Gnanasara Thero

In one of the many recent diatribes against the Muslims, Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thero calls the God that thmens rea of this statement is clear. Denunciation, condemnation and hate filled much to the displeasure of the Muslims and the decent Buddhists. However, personally, I see it differently. Though his intention was patently not clean, I congratulate him for he has spoken the truth at least in stating that Allah is faceless.
e Muslims believe in as a faceless God. The
We all know that there is the smallest and biggest in everything. If I say, and it is true, that the smallest country in the world is less than ½ of a square mile and it is a world-famous place; Curiosity will kick in to know which is this tiny country.
The faceless God is no exception to this curiosity. There are many things in life which we take for granted. One of which is that like everyone has a face, God also has a face. To learn otherwise, is strange and strange things evince interest. The God of the Muslims, addressed in the Arabic language as ‘Allah’, does not have a face like we humans or animals do. Gnanasara therefore, for once has uttered the truth but he is discombobulated (fanciful coinage for confusion…).
The Eternal, Absolute
Theism (Belief in the existence of God) is an interesting subject which has also courted much controversy among a few namely the atheists (do not believe in any god) and agnostics (do not know if any god exist or not). A classification of theism informs us of Polytheism (belief in multiple gods), Pantheism (belief that everything is god), Henotheism (belief in a particular god without disbelieving in the existence of others) and Monotheism (belief in only One God).
Ever since the thero’s expression of his confused state of mind about the faceless God of the Muslims, honest inquiry has occupied the thinking of many normal folks. To find an answer, I will have to seek the help of the Quran to explain this phenomenon of the faceless God. A reading of the foundation of Islam reveals that Islam is a strictly monotheistic religion. The monotheistic nature of the God in Islam and His facelessness is succinctly encapsulated in a beautiful formula, which reads as:
“Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begets not, nor was He begotten;
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
(Chapter 112 of the Quran)
The uniqueness of Allah is in His Oneness. Therefore, in Islam there is no polytheistic, pantheistic or henotheistic beliefs. Allah is not the son of anyone nor does He have a son. Linked with the idea of monotheism is the belief in the Unity of Allah. Allah as One in person. Allah as the only Creator. He is the One who sustains and nourishes, it is only Allah who deserves to be worshipped and adored and so on.
God In A Laboratory Slide
When speaking about Allah as the Only Creator, the quick question is, “Who created Allah?”. A very fair and reasonable question. Why we ask such a question is because part of our learning includes the principles of cause and effect. Every event is an effect and has another event as a cause. What is interesting is that this law of cause and effect like everything else is philosophically bounded by time and space. Our little knowledge, intellect and perception too, are confined to these limits. Therefore, it is difficult for man to think beyond these limitations. But, Allah is not subjected to space and time. He is All Encompassing.
Science, both physical and natural, are potent tools used by man to find answers to many baffling questions. There are limitations in here too. The researches, observations, hypotheses and experiments are mostly limited only to matter. Further, the tools of weight, measures etc. used are also related to matter. Physical measures cannot be expected to yield answers about the metaphysical. Simply put, God cannot be put in a laboratory slide and microscopically observed.
The Qur’an interrogates the belief of atheists by asking:
“Did they come into being out of nothing? Or were they their own creators? Or, is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith”. (Quran Chapter 52 Verse 35-36)
Thus, either we created ourselves: which is inconceivable; or we were created from nothing: another impossibility. Logic just leaves us a third possibility: that we were created by a creator. So, every creation must have a wise, intelligent and purposeful Designer.
Nirvana In Soteriology
In Buddhism, there is Nirvana (the cessation of the samsaric cycle of repeated birth and death). This is a thread that runs through many religions and philosophies called as the doctrine of soteriology (the theory of salvation). As humans, it is difficult to visualise this state of Nirvana. The cynics may question, “What is there after Nirvana?” According to Buddhism, this question cannot arise, because Nirvana is the Ultimate Truth. If Nirvana is the Ultimate, there cannot be anything after that. Logic would have it that if there is anything after Nirvana, then that will be the Ultimate Truth and not Nirvana.
Similarly, the question as to who created Allah does not arise for several reasons. These are easily explainable scientifically, logically, philosophically, cosmologically etc. but this is not the place for it. For the moment, the simple logic relating to Nirvana suffices. If there has been someone who created Allah, then that Creator logically supersedes Allah and it can go on infinitesimally. Our lack of knowledge and our limitations are obvious barriers for such inquiry.
The Quran helps man by giving a description about Allah. Each of these words have a broad and deep meaning in the Arabic language. It says that “Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;” (Chapter 112 above). “He is the First, the Last, the Manifest, and the Unseen and He has knowledge of everything”. (Quran, Chapter 57 Verse 3).
Islam in rationalising it’s invitation to man states:
“Has not man seen that We created him from a drop of sperm. Then he becomes an open opponent? And he makes comparisons for Us, and forgets his own creation, saying: ‘Who can revive dry bones after they have rotted away?’ Say: ‘He who created them the first time will again give them life!’ (Quran, Chapter 36 Verse 77-79).
Why Faceless?
To answer this question, it is necessary to understand the nature of human beings. Throughout history man’s imagination has led him to create anthropomorphic gods which exhibits human qualities. There are gods of fertility – Parvati, the god of love – Venus and so many others like the Sun god, Evil god, god of beauty, wisdom, anger, jealousy etc.
Man is also extremely limited by his knowledge and this little knowledge is only within the five traditionally recognized sense perceptions – Sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Add the intellect to it. Even in the use of these senses there are limitations. For example, a dog’s sense of hearing is significantly greater than that of the human. The human’s sense of smelling is so limited compared to a bear. A bear’s sense of smell is so acute that it can detect an animal carcass from several miles away.
In Islam, there is no place for human to imagine the features of God. A look at the last verse quoted above is helpful. It states:
“Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” (Quran, Chapter 112)
“There is nothing like Him” (Quran, Chapter 42 Verse 11)
Effectively, what it means is that there is nothing that can be compared with Allah or to Allah. Neither is he composed of any element (gold, silver, rock, wood etc.) nor has He resemblance to anything. He has no image. Therefore, He has no face.
Hypothetically, even if we imagine a face for God it will be anthropomorphic, as our imagination will depend or be within the range of our limited perception only. On the other hand, since God Himself says that there is nothing that can be compared with Him, we simply cannot give any form to God, as He is incomparable. It is beyond human even to think of anything.
Finally, there are references in the Quran where the Arabic word, ‘Wajh’ is translated as ‘face’, ‘countenance’, ‘essence’. This has to be understood metaphorically and not to be taken in the literal sense of the meaning as we use for the face. A parallel explanation would be idiomatic expressions like ‘show one’s face’ which means, to make an appearance or ‘give a hand’ which means, help a person.

Hate speech against Islam in Sri Lanka by Buddhist Monk

👆Here's the video of Gnanasara insulting Allah SWT with English and Arabic subtitles. Please share it with all your contacts here and in the Middle East. We need to stop this rabid monster being the face of extra Buddhist terror in Sri lanka. This should reach all embassies as well✍
We don't want Sri Lanka to be another Rohingya.
We all love peace and glad that 99% of people living here think the same but this better not get out of control.
